Since Mother's Day is this Sunday, I just wanted to share some of my favorite Vpop songs celebrating all those hard-working mothers out there.

Gót Chân Mòn is a song by singer Nam Cường. Life in Vietnam can be very tough. For the most part, the people in Vietnam are a hard-working bunch. Everyday the streets of Vietnam are filled with such hustling and bustling. As a visitor of Vietnam, you may get annoyed by what seems like an endless sea of people trying to make a quick buck off of you. You should, however, remember that all these people are just trying to make a living. Everyone is hustling day in, day out just to make ends meet. When I say everyone, I mean EVERYONE! Old people are out there hustling. Kids are out there hustling. The disabled! No government handouts here, just good old-fashioned hard work.

It's a tough life for a street vendor -- a very common job for the poor. In Gót Chân Mòn, Nam Cường sings about how his mom would work as a street vendor from sunrise to late at night in order to provide for him. It is a song recognizing and thanking his mom for all the hardships that she had to endure raising him.

Ấn Nút Nhớ...Thả Giấc Mơ is a song by Vpop star Sơn Tùng M-TP. It is a song about growing up under his mother's care and now wanting to do right by her. It is a song about not wanting his mother to worry -- something that every mother does. Like Gót Chân Mòn, Ấn Nút Nhớ...Thả Giấc Mơ brings me feelings of melancholy and nostalgia.

Mothers are special people, and they often go through life doing a thankless job of raising children. So as Mother's Day approaches, let us all remember and celebrate all the hard-working and self-sacrificing moms out there.
